El Viernes 24 de Agosto, a las 12 del mediod�a,
activistas tendr�n un evento p�blico en la
630 Sansome para dirigir la atenci�n a las redadas
de las Oficinas de Immigraci�n y que est�n
sucediendo por el Area de la Bah�a y el resto del
pa�s. El objetivo es mobilizar un activismo de base
en respuesta a las redadas, deportaciones y las
regulaciones de documentos.

La administraci�n de Bush ha anunciado medidas
duras que impactar�n la vida millones de
trabajadores en �ste pa�s y que
multar�n a aquellos empleadores que emplean a
trabajadores que no puedan pasar el
chequeo de documentos por Immigraci�n. Es posible
que �stas nuevas leyes le costar� el trabajo
a millones de trabajadores.



Aparte de lo ya descrito, las redadas y deportaciones se
usar�n para enforzar �stas regulaciones y
�stas redadas ya est�n sucediendo por todo
el pa�s. Segun Brian Cruz, activista por los
derechos de los immigrantes y miembro de SEIU 1021. "Las
nuevas regulaciones que el Departamento de Seguridad
anunci� causar� la despedida de muchos
trabajadores immigrantes por todo el pa�s por
empleadores que tienen miedo a ser castigados y por
aquellos empleadores que quieren aprovechar �sta
oportunidad para atacar a los sindicatos o las
campa�as por organizar sindicatos. Esto ya
empez� a suceder en ciertas �reas." Las
redadas de Imigraci�n destruye familias y vidas.
Derechos Humanos no debe de depender del estado migratorio
de cada quien.



Este Domingo pasado, agentes de Immigracion
arrestaron a activista por los derechos de los imigrates
Elvira Arellano en Los Angeles. Separandola de �sta
manera de su familia. Nosotro estamos en Solidaridad con
Elvira Arellano; y demandamos que sea permitida permanecer
en �ste pa�s y que todos los cargos contra
ella sean abandonados immediatamente.

On Friday, August 24th, at 12 noon, activists from
[participating organizations] will hold a public event at
630 Sansome Street in San Francisco to put a spotlight on
the ICE (Immigration Customs and
Enforcement) raids that have been happening across
the country and throughout the Bay Area. Their aim is to
begin to mobilize grass roots activism in opposition to
the raids, deportations and "no-match" regulations.

The Bush administration has just announced harsh new
measures that will impact the lives of millions of working
people in this country by holding employers liable and
subject to fines for employing those who cannot clear up
social security number discrepancies. It is possible that
the new rules will costs millions of people their jobs.

To add to this, anti-immigrant raids and deportations
will be used to enforce these measures, and such raids are
already occurring around the country. According to Brian
Cruz, immigrant rights activist and member of SEIU 1021,
"The new regulations that the Department of Homeland
Security announced will cause the firing of many immigrant
workers nationwide by employers who are afraid of being
sanctioned and also by those who will use this opportunity
to attack union organizing drives. This has already
started to happen in certain areas." ICE raids destroy
families and lives. Human rights should not be contingent
on immigration status or documentation.

On Sunday, ICE agents arrested and then deported
immigrant rights activist Elvira Arellano in Los Angeles.
Thereby separating her from her family. We stand in
solidarity with Elvira Arellano; and we demand that she be
allowed to return
to this country and that all proceedings against her
be dropped immediately.
