A national campaign is being organized to support the "Strive Act of
2007-Gutierrez-Flake Bill" to undercut the May 1 March for Unconditional Amnesty.

Representatives of Congressman Gutierrez are speaking on Spanish speaking radio stations telling people to hear Gutierrez on a speaking tour explaining his draft immigration law rather than marching on May 1. This seems to be deliberate sabotage by a section of the Democratic Party to prevent mass action by the Latino community.

On the radio Congressman Gutierrez has only mentioned some provisions
of his draft bill, leaving out the sections which call for increased
militarization of the border, the hiring of additional border guards, the criminalization of new undocumented immigrants, and new prisons to be built for these immigrants.

Many immigrants, hearing only the "good" parts of the proposed bill,
may see no need to march on May 1 as this bill is being presented as
a partial "victory." Even the "good parts" delay permanent residency
for 6 years and require $2000 as well as subjecting the individual to investigation by the FBI (?)
